The Look of Studio Eleven.... We believe that photography should be more than just pictures. It should be a work of art.

The style of photography you'll find here ranges from classic to modern, soft to edgy, with a vintage chic twist often thrown in. Bold colors that pop off the page and pictures that truly show the personality of the people in them are what we love the most. We prefer candid and natural posing and using natural light when available. Each session is unique, with our personal brand of photography shining through in everything we do.

What you can expect....
Prior to your session you'll receive an email full of helpful tips, do's/dont's and faq's. During your session, you can expect to relax, have fun and be yourself. Sure, we may set up the shots but, we want you to shine through! If you have certain shots in mind, please tell us. We want to give you the best photography experience possible.

What you should wear....
We get asked this a lot. It definitely depends on personal preference but, we can give you a bit of our opinion. Kids in funky and fun colors and clothing photographs really well. Again, let their personality shine through. Vibrant colors pop and allow for natural eye color to really jump off the printed picture. Mix and match fabrics and patterns to give a variety of colors and textures and create a fun and interesting look. Avoid logos or large lettering that is distracting. Fun hats and jewelry are always a great choice. For families, coordinate but, you don't have to necessarily match completely. Let each family member's personality be seen. A popular choice is all white or black shirts with denim. This works really well but, don't get hung up on matching each article of clothing. Add some fun accessories when going with the basic colors. For Seniors, bring several of your favorite outfits and don't forget your personal items that define you and your style!

For great examples of what to wear, check out our photo galleries here and on our Facebook page.

Where should we shoot......
Again, it's up to you. We shoot on-location sessions in the Skidmore area and at our studio in Skidmore. The travel fee for outside of that area depends on where the session is and the type of session.

When should you schedule your session.....
If you have little ones in your session, schedule around them. You'll want to schedule when they'll be the happiest. Feel free to bring snacks or entertainment for them and don't stress if they get fussy. We are parents and fully understand!

For newborn sessions, it's important to photograph within the first 10 days. After that time, the newborn poses get harder to achieve.

**For all children:  We ask that you not schedule shots on the same day as photo sessions and please allow us to reschedule if your little one isn't feeling well.

For maternity sessions, the best time to schedule is during the 31st to 36th week.

What happens after the session....
Session editing takes 2-3 weeks. At that point, you'll get an email with your personal print proof site log-in information. You'll be able to see your proofs and order prints, as well as email invite your friends and family to do the same. Print shipping generally takes about a week and is shipped directly to you.

Am I allowed to pick the pictures I want edited or how I want them edited?

In short, no. Studio Eleven retains artistic rights to which images are chosen and how they are edited. If there are specific styles you are looking for, please tell us before the session begins so that we may keep it in mind.

Are the prices going to change....
They might. Our prices are always subject to change and meet the ever changing industry demands. When our prices change we try very hard to not change them drastically. Keep in mind that if you get a quote, it is good for that day. The only way to guarantee pricing is to schedule a session, sign a wedding contract or make a deposit.

Why don't I get my images on a disc?

We offer high quality professional printing at incredibly low prices. We also allow our customers to order prints individually instead of forcing you into print packages with limited poses or sizes. Because we value our artwork from beginning to end, we prefer our photos printed at the highest quality. Should you need digital files for web use, we can work out a package for you. We also offer dvd slideshows along with our printing options.

Why can't I see the original images?

The editing process is part of our overall creative process. Unedited images do not fully represent the work that we do. An unedited image may look entirely different than the completed product. As artists, we have developed processes in which we choose the images and how we edit them. We retain the artistic rights to which images are chosen and how they are edited.

Why aren't there any prints included in the price?

Session fees include the photographer's time, talent, editing of all images, and a password protected online viewing gallery. A lot of time goes into each session. Our job doesn't stop once the camera lens cap is put back on. We take great care in choosing your best images, editing them in our style and setting up your online gallery. Unless specified, prints are not included in the session fee. We've also taken great care to research and find an amazing professional printer that we use in order to offer high quality professional prints and products at low prices.

Print/Product Options and Prices are available by email per request.

Personal Guarantee
We stand behind our work 100%. All prints are guaranteed to meet your expectations or we will reprint free of charge. Please keep in mind that we don't refund due to outfit, body or hair disappointments. Take that into consideration when planning for your session.

About "Copyright"....

“Copyright” describes the rights given to creators for their literary and artistic works.

But we often don’t consider copyright when we look at our family photos, or go to get them copied. Even though it is so easy to copy an image—with scanners, photo-quality printers, and copy stations—it is still illegal.

Things to remember about copyright:

  • Copyright is a property right.
  • Just because you buy a print does not mean you have purchased the copyright.
  • Professional photographers are the smallest of small copyright holders.
  • Under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976, photographs are protected by copyright from the moment of creation.
  • Photographers have the exclusive right to reproduce their photographs (right to control the making of copies).
  • Unless you have permission from the photographer, you can’t copy, distribute (no scanning and sending them to others), publicly display (no putting them online), or create derivative works from photographs.
  • A photographer can easily create over 20,000 separate pieces of intellectual property annually.
  • Professional photographers are dependent on their ability to control the reproduction of the photographs they create.
    • It affects their income and the livelihood of their families.
  • Even small levels of infringement—copying a photo without permission—can have a devastating impact on a photographer’s ability to make a living.
  • Copyright infringements—reproducing photos without permission—can result in civil and criminal penalties.
